Holiday Let ConcernsThe number of holiday properties in Windermere and Bowness has grown considerably since the pandemic partly because of changing holiday requirements.
We are seeing an increasing number of Guest Houses requesting a change of use to holiday lettings mainly with off site management and in some instances, neighbouring residents are experiencing increased noise, anti-social behaviour and issues with parking and litter as a result of houses hosting large party groups. The nature of holiday letting makes monitoring difficult as one week/group can differ from another but W&BTC would like to work with residents to see how widespread this issue is and spot any emerging trends. The Town Council has no enforcement powers but we will then work with agencies that could help- the LDNPA, W&F Council, Police etc. To help us we are asking you to fill in this form if you are experiencing/have experienced any issues which you believe are a result of a premises change of use to a Holiday Let. Your name and address are not required on the form but without your permission the information cannot be followed up with the relevant authority. The more specific and detailed the information given the more effective it will be. We will publish anonymised data as part of our review. Contact Details for Relevant AgenciesNote: Most of these contact details are available in office hours only. In an emergency situation please telephone the police on 999.
Windermere & Bowness Town Council have no authority over these issues but are working to collate information and support residents where possible. Lake District National Park:
