Lake Administration Committee
The Lake Administration Committee deals with the functions of Westmorland & Furness Council (W&FC) in relation to the management Lake Windermere.
The committee was originally established in 1975 as a South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) Sub-Committee for the Administration of Windermere Lake following the agreement by Windermere Parish Council to forego their right to register a dispute to the transfer of the bed of Windermere from themselves to SLDC. In recognition of such agreement it was resolved that the committee would consist of twenty four persons, eight of whom would be co-opted members, five from Windermere Parish Council and three from Lakes Parish Council, the balance being elected representatives of SLDC. The committee takes decisions on matters impacting on the bed of the lake, such as encroachments and associated fees, planning applications affecting encroachments and matters relating to council-owned land and property adjacent to the lake. |
Meetings are held approximately five times throughout the year at The Town Hall, Kendal.
Communication between meetings are managed via Democratic Services, W&FC. |
