Glebe Bandstand
The bandstand on the Glebe is owned by Westmorland & Furness Council and can be booked by bands and groups such as choirs in the summer months. It has a small electricity supply. Bookings should be made directly with Westmorland & Furness Council.
For charity and community groups there may be a small fee. Bands are asked to bring along their own chairs if needed. Bands will need public liability insurance and a risk assessment. For smaller bands, the Town Council may be able to cover the insurance.
A risk assessment for each performance is needed but, to make life easier, the Town Council have provided a standard one which should cover most eventualities. It is attached below.
We ask that bands do not engage in active fundraising, for which a special license is required. However, putting out a bucket for audiences to make a contribution voluntarily is fine.
To encourage bands and choirs to perform the Town Council will make available small grants to cover the incidental costs for the band. This is usually £50 for a small group (10 and under) or £100 for a larger group. The application is attached below:
