Windermere in Bloom 2021
The communities of Windermere, Bowness & Troutbeck Bridge take great pride in the appearance and attractiveness of their surroundings. We live in a very beautiful area that is enhanced by the spring and summer show of colour.
The Town Council provides the funding for the erection and watering of 108 public hanging baskets and railing tubs throughout the community each year. Local businesses help by sponsoring tubs and baskets. The Town Steward plants flower beds and tubs around the area and maintains them through the summer. He also picks litter, cleans road signs and removes rubbish on a regular basis. This is supplemented by locals who volunteer to litter pick. The Town Council organises judging and a presentation evening to award trophies and certificates to local residents and businesses whose gardens and displays have impressed throughout the summer. This year, the ceremony was scaled down, to allow for social distancing, and took place at the Marchesi Centre in October. It was a lovely community event and we are pleased to announce the following winners: Windermere in Bloom 2021 Overall Winner: 2, Fairfield Road Pat Holmes Cup (Small guest house): Virginia Cottage South Lakes Tourism Trophy (Large guest house): Beechwood Lakes Hospitality Trophy (Hotels, Inns, Pubs): Elleray Hotel Windermere Lions Trophy (Cafe/Restaurant): Flying Pig Chamber of Trade Trophy (Community displays): Craig Manor Tesco Cup (Best decorated shop): Brysons Lakeland Ltd (Commercial display): Sun Hotel Windermere in Bloom Cup (Commercial display): Lamplighter Crystal Swan (Special or Outstanding feature): Burnhow Hotel Staveley Crystal Trophy (Open residential): Sunnyholme Windermere Parish Trophy (Outstanding feature): Howbeck Rayrigg Motors Trophy (Most Colourful display): 13, Fairfield Road Windermere in Bloom Trophy (Best all year round display): 30 Park Ave Leith Joseph Trophy (Residential baskets and tubs): 21, Limethwaite Rd Windermere Parish Trophy (Terraced garden): Isaac Cottage Civic Society (Best domestic display): Fairlarch Soroptomists Trophy (Best kept garden): Oldfield TBB AJHN Shield (Alternative garden): Tim Keenan, Bank Terrace TACT Trophy (Sustainability): 5 Woodland Close (Allotment) Walters Trophy (Public Amenity): Pump House |
