The Council

Windermere & Bowness Town Council is comprised of 20 democratically elected Town Councillors, all of whom are unpaid local volunteers. 

The Council is divided into 4 wards that cover Bowness, Windermere and Troutbeck Bridge. They are Applethwaite, Windermere Town, Bowness North and Bowness South.

There is a Town Clerk who provides legal, administrative and financial support to the Council, a part-time Facilities Officer, who manages the public facilities and a part-time Town Steward who takes care of Elleray Woods and Orrest Head as well as the Town Council's flower beds, sign cleaning, litter picking and a host of other jobs around the town.

There are two meetings each month in public:
Full Council and the Planning Sub-Committee.
