Planning Sub CommitteeThe planning sub-committee of Windermere & Bowness Town Council meets every month. Usually on the 4th Wednesday of each month. They consider all planning applications for the parish and make recommendations to the Lake District National Park (LDNP), the Planning Authority for our area. Occasionally our meeting dates don't align with the deadlines for response from the LDNP, where possible, the council will hold an additional meeting to consider those applications.
The meetings are open to the public. Anyone can request to speak both in support or opposition to a planning application on the agenda. There is an allocated three minute slot for each speaker at the start of the meeting. It is helpful if people planning to attend the meeting contact the clerk on [email protected] If you prefer you can write to the Council with your objections or support. Because the Town Council only makes recommendations to the LDNP, it is important to also write to the LDNP planners at [email protected] quoting the application number. Planning applications are listed on the agenda for the meeting along with their reference number (eg 7/2020/5555). The detail of the individual applications, the plans, letters of objection and the comments made about it can be found as follows: Enter Lake District Planning Search in your web browser or click this link. Select Planning Application Search Tool. Tick: I accept at the bottom of the page. This will take you to the search area. If you have the planning reference, enter it here. If you do not, you will need to choose the Search Applications option from the list on the left: Enter the location in the 3rd box (eg Biskey Howe Road) There is also an advanced search option and the option to search by map. There are 5 Councillors who serve on the sub-committee. Currently membership is: Cllr Christine Cook (Chairperson) Cllr Jennifer Borer Cllr Adrian Legge Cllr Sandra Lilley Cllr Marina Davis The sub-committee and LDNP can only consider certain factors known as material considerations in making recommendations about planning applications. For more information about Material Considerations and the role of the Town Council in the planning process please read the guide below.
