Windermere responds to the Boundary Commission

28/6/2016

Windermere Town Council has today responded to the Boundary Commission to say that moving Applethwaite to the Ambleside electoral area is totally unacceptable and a ridiculous idea. See the response by clicking on the icon below:

New Boundaries for Windermere

7/6/2016

Windermere Town Council are appalled at the draft proposals recently published by the Boundary Commission, which move the whole northern part of Windermere into Ambleside/Lakes Ward. This includes all streets and properties situated between Troutbeck Bridge (to the west), Orrest Head (to the north), Main Street (to the south) and Heaning Lane (to the east). It is a huge chunk of Windermere and will effectively cut the town in half. It will include transferring the Railway Station, Orrest Head viewpoint and the Lakes School into the Ambleside ward.
To see the details in full and access the interactive maps, go to: https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk/node/6168

Town Councillors are calling on residents to write to the Boundary Commission and make their views known. The deadline for responses is 18th July. The contact details are:
Email: reviews@lgbce.org.uk
Address: Review Officer(South Lakeland), Local Government Boundary Commission for England, 14th Floor, Millbank Tower, London SW1P, 4QP.
